I studied as an illustrator at the University of East Anglia. The emphasis on drawing is still a strong influence on the way I work and accounts for the narrative content in my paintings. however, I feel that they are independent of any text that might have been a starting point. Some are based around composite characters taken from general experiences; some utilise my own personal mythology. Whatever their meaning, overt or otherwise I hope the images I make are enigmatic, perhaps surreal but always readable by a wide audience.
